Clone a smart credential definition
You can clone an existing smart credential definition in IDaaS.
Why clone a smart credential definition?
Cloning is useful when you want to reuse an existing smart credential definition as a starting point instead of creating a new one from scratch.
For example, your current definition is used for employees and already has the required PIV model and variables. You can clone that definition for contractors, rename it, and then update only the fields that differ.
Clone a smart credential definition
- Click > Resources > Smart Credential Definitions. The Smart Credentials Definitions page appears.
- Click next to the smart credential definition you want to clone. A copy of the smart credential definition appears in the Smart Credential Definitions list with "copy" appended to its name.
- Optional: Rename the cloned smart credential definition.
- Click the cloned smart credential definition. The Edit Smart Credential Definition page appears.
- In Name, enter a new name.
- Click Save.
Use a clear naming pattern so cloned definitions are easy to identify, for example, piv-employee-v2 or piv-contractor-v1.
Validate your changes
After cloning a smart credential definition, validate the result.
- Confirm the cloned definition appears in the Smart Credential Definitions list.
- Confirm the cloned definition retains the source definition settings before you make edits.
- If you renamed the cloned definition, confirm the new name is saved and visible in the list.
