# Modify Google authenticator settings

Use this procedure to review and update Google Authenticator policy settings in IDaaS.

Changes made to Google authenticator settings apply to all assigned Google authenticators in your account.

## Modify Google Authenticator settings in IDaaS

1. Click Menu icon **>** **Policies > Authenticators**. The **Authenticators** page appears.

2. Select **Google Authenticator**. The **Google Authenticator** settings appear.

note
If the Google authenticator display name has been changed, **Google Authenticator** is replaced with the new name. For more information, see [Customize email templates](/docs/notifications-and-email/customize-email-templates.md).

3. Set **Max. Time Steps** to define how long a token response is valid during normal authentication.

4. Set **Max. Reset Time Steps** to define how long a token response is valid during a token reset operation.

note
This value affects token reset operations. If token reset fails, increase **Max. Time Steps** and try again. If the issue persists, contact Technical support.

5. Click **Save** to confirm your Google Authenticator settings.

## Validate your changes

After saving your settings, validate the result.

1. Confirm the updated values remain selected after page refresh.
2. Confirm affected users can complete Google Authenticator sign-in successfully.
3. If token reset is used, confirm reset works with the configured **Max. Reset Time Steps**.
