Assign a Temporary Access Code

Use this procedure to assign a Temporary Access Code when a user needs to authenticate but cannot access their primary authenticator.

Default Temporary Access Code lifetime, expiry, and maximum uses are controlled by your IDaaS authenticator settings. For more information, see Modify Temporary Access Code settings.

Assign a Temporary Access Code

  1. Click > Members > Users. The Users List page appears.
  2. Click the User ID for the user you want to assign the Temporary Access Code. The User Details page appears.
  3. Click the Authenticators tab. The Authenticators page appears showing a list of authenticators assigned to the user.
  4. Click . A drop-down list of authenticators appears.
  5. Select Temporary Access Code. The Temporary Access Code is added to the user's authenticator list.
  6. On the user's Authenticators page, click and select Details. The Temporary Access Code Details page appears.
  7. Copy the text in the Code field. This is the temporary access code. Share the code with the user.
  8. Click OK to close the Temporary Access Code Details page.

You cannot create more than one Temporary Access Code per user. To create a new code, first delete the user's current Temporary Access Code. To delete it, click and select Delete, then click Delete on the confirmation prompt.

Validate your changes

After assigning a Temporary Access Code, validate the result.

  1. Confirm Temporary Access Code appears in the user's authenticator list.
  2. Confirm the Code value is visible on the Temporary Access Code Details page.
  3. Confirm the user can authenticate with the shared code.
  4. Confirm usage and expiry behavior follows configured policy limits.
